Thompson, a.k.a. Wandering Willie

I loved doing the Wandering Willie activity! I feel that this activity can be used for any age, just that the content might have to be changed for younger students. I love activities in which you have to use clues to figure something out. If we as college students enjoyed this activity, I can only imagine how much fun students would have doing an activity like this. Sometimes I feel that some topics aren't interesting to students. However, if a certain topic was used with this activity, I feel that students would be more engaged and actually learn about that topic.

I never knew how many things could be taught using PowerPoint. I am definitely going to use PowerPoint more in my classroom. I feel that this is a great as well as easy tool for students to use to create a project.

  1. I really enjoyed doing the Wandering Willie activity as well! I love using clues to figure out the answer because it is like solving a mystery, which is a genre I read a lot. I feel that this type of activity could be used with a mystery genre unit and it could be modified for different grade levels.

  2. I was surprised that I enjoyed Wandering Willie as well. I actually liked the follow up activity, that we had to draw Willie. It helped for the visual learners like myself. It helped me to think more about putting all the elements together. I like Alyssa's comment about the mystery genre. I there there are a lot of possibilities for this interactive assignment.

  3. As soon as I got home, I was trying to do more with PowerPoint, because I never realized exactly how much you could do with it. It was so cool to see what someone else came up with, and all of the clues were so much fun. It would be interesting to see how else teachers have used it in the past in the same type of way. It was so interesting to see how it worked out and how much you could do with it.
